What's the deal with Atlassian? Why is Atlassian so cool? As a budding or experienced IT professional, you've probably asked yourself these questions before. Today, we'd like to tell you why Atlassian is indispensable to us and why we chose these products over others back then. Why is Atlassian ahead of the pack?
The year was 2002 – and catworkx had a stroke of luck: while searching for a tool to manage software issues internally, one of the founders at the time discovered the bug tracking tool ‘Jira’, which had just been launched on the market. They tried it out, were satisfied, and immediately became a customer of Atlassian.
The two founders of Atlassian, Scott Farquhar and Mike Cannon-Brookes, were pioneers who specialised in creating collaboration interfaces for companies. What began in Australia in 2002 as an IT start-up is now a billion-dollar publicly traded company with thousands of employees and renowned customers. Today, Atlassian's best-known products include Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Confluence and Bitbucket.
Now, in 2023, catworkx has been working with Atlassian products for more than 20 years. Since 2014, we have specialised 100% in Atlassian solutions – and there's a good reason for that.

The software is suitable for companies of all sizes and can be used in all areas of a company: development, IT, marketing, HR, finance, etc. Since Atlassian tailors its product development to the constantly changing requirements of companies, its solutions are always up to date and can be adapted very flexibly to individual workflows. This enables catworkx to always offer its customers up-to-date and suitable solutions. In addition, the products can be adapted to individual needs through a variety of apps offered on the Atlassian Marketplace. If required, catworkx also develops customer-specific apps.

Digitalisation poses major challenges for many companies. Atlassian's tools are building blocks on the way to achieving this. A ticket system for IT support? Agile software development or waterfall? No problem, that's standard. But it doesn't have to be just IT. Our customers also use Jira to record and process requests to building services, marketing or human resources (onboarding). Not complex enough yet?
How about fibre optic expansion for internet connections? Tasks such as calculation, route and connection planning across multiple service providers, some of which run in parallel, need to be managed and monitored. Anything that fits into a form and goes through a process can be easily mapped in Jira.
And then there's Confluence: a great way to collaborate seamlessly across national borders – a place where you can store and share information and knowledge of all kinds (intranet, knowledge base). Confluence can also be used in combination with Jira Software to record and share release notes for programming controlled via Jira, for example.
It is the wide range of functions and maximum flexibility of Atlassian tools that enable first-class digital mapping of business processes. And one thing is clear: with Atlassian products, we never get bored. The areas of application, the range of tasks and the customer projects are diverse.
